In the final declaration of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, the leaders of the BRICS countries emphasised that fossil fuels will continue to play a significant role in the global energy balance. For a fair, inclusive and technologically neutral transition, the group has adopted a roadmap.

What is the optimal pace of decarbonisation for the global economy? Will hydrogen energy become a large-scale industry?

Stanislav Zhukov, Deputy Director for Science at the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about this and more in an exclusive interview at the TV BRICS studio at the International Security Forum.
