Belarus offers Uzbekistan assistance in building nuclear power plant
Uzbekistan recognises Belarus’s achievements in developing nuclear technologies
President of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko has offered Uzbekistan the assistance of Belarusian specialists in the construction of a nuclear power plant. He made the statement during a meeting with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus, Rakhmatulla Nazarov, BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS, reports.
The Belarusian leader noted the interest of the Uzbek side in specialists in the field of nuclear power plant construction.
“We will assist in the construction of your nuclear power plant. We will try to ensure that our specialists provide you with all possible support. You will see for yourselves how we can be useful to you,” the president said, adding that Russian specialists had helped Belarus acquire competencies in this field.
Following the meeting with the head of state, the Uzbek ambassador told journalists that nuclear energy is a promising area of cooperation between the two countries. In particular, his country is especially interested in the organisation, infrastructure and development of a city for nuclear specialists, following the example of Ostrovets, where a nuclear power plant operates.
“This is very important for our working group. I very much hope that in the near future the working group will visit Belarus and study the experience of the Belarusian side directly on site,” Rakhmatulla Nazarov said.
At present, Uzbekistan is preparing to build a nuclear power plant in the Farish District in cooperation with the Russian side.
