Newly established Russia–China Artists’ Union to serve as platform for collaborative creativity and exchange of expertise

A formal ceremony marking the establishment of the Russia-China Artists’ Union – Joint Research Centre for the Development of Education in the Arts and Sciences took place at Harbin Normal University, attended by representatives of the Russian Academy of Arts. The centre is expected to serve as a bridge for the continuous expansion of academic exchange, collaborative creativity and staff training between Russia and China. By passing on cultural traditions, the centre will help nurture a new generation of specialists in the fields of art and science through mutual learning.

The establishment of the Russia-China Artists’ Union and the research centre is fully in line with contemporary trends in the integration of art and science, noted Anatoly Lyubavin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Academy of Arts and Rector of the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, in his speech. He expressed the hope that joint efforts would enable the parties to take international art education and creativity to a new level.

Following the ceremony, an academic seminar was held. Russian experts shared their accumulated experience of integrating art and science, proposing to conduct joint research, exchanges of lecturers and students, and creative projects on a regular basis.

For their part, the Chinese representatives spoke about the use of ice and snow in art, citing the example of the north-eastern province of Heilongjiang and its largest city, Harbin. The local climate enables artists to create installations to promote ice and snow cultural tourism, combining engineering and technical innovation, artificial intelligence, and architectural aesthetics.
