Hanoi aims for 100% electric and green energy buses by 2030
City authorities outline key steps, including charging infrastructure and financial incentives
The Hanoi People’s Committee has introduced a new directive detailing the city’s plan to shift its public transportation system to eco-friendly electric and green energy buses. The goal is to fully transit all public buses to electric or green energy alternatives by 2030, as reported by Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.
The municipal government has requested a comprehensive annual implementation plan to be submitted by 15 April, 2025. Additionally, authorities have emphasised the need to promptly revise and enhance the evaluation standards for public bus service quality, with finalised recommendations expected by the end of April.
Key responsibilities include the Department of Construction overseeing land allocation and infrastructure planning for charging stations, as well as draughting financial incentive policies for green bus initiatives.
The Department of Industry and Trade will guarantee a reliable electricity supply, and the Department of Finance will simplify loan processes to facilitate funding access for businesses involved in the transition.
