India to present updated plan for environmental agenda at UN Biodiversity Conference

This was announced by the Minister of State Environment, Kirti Vardhan Singh

At the UN Conference on Biodiversity (COP16) in Cali (Colombia), India will announce its intention to seek international funding for its updated national biodiversity protection plan. This was announced by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS, citing Union Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh.

Singh emphasised the need to secure financial resources and other means to implement the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP). This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

He also introduced the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (Plant4Mother) initiative launched by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day. The campaign aims to strengthen environmental consciousness and is part of India's global mission to protect the environment.

Singh announced an increase in the number of protected wetlands in India from 26 to 85 since 2014 with plans to reach 100, emphasising the country's commitment to protecting ecosystems.
