More than 1,000 artefacts are found in Chinese 2,200-year-old tomb

In China, archaeologists have discovered a 2200-year-old tomb of the ruler of the kingdom of Chu – one of the seven states, once located on the territory of modern China.

The tomb turned out to be the largest and most complex of all burials related to the ancient country. This was reported by the state news agency Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, with reference to representatives of the Office of National Cultural Heritage of China.

Scientists found in the tomb more than 1 thousand artefacts and cultural relics, including skilfully made sculptures of heads made of lacquered wood. Such works have never been found in tombs in other regions of China.

Also found in the tomb were bronze ritual vessels, musical instruments and the sarcophagus of its owner.

Archaeologists have not yet established exactly who rested in the tomb, as they have so far managed to explore only 30% of the complex.
