South African authorities expect young people to promote sustainable solutions for water sector
The Department of Water Supply and Sanitation (DWS) in Gauteng province has called on young people to contribute to optimising water supply systems. Authorities have emphasised the potential for young people to come up with innovative ideas and utilise advanced technology.
Representatives of the department voiced their call during the National Water and Sanitation Youth Forum held in Polokwane, Limpopo. This is reported by the official website of the South African Government.
Thami Mndawe, Deputy Director of Water and Sanitation Services Support in Gauteng, emphasised the unique skills of young people in promoting sustainable water management practices in South Africa.
Discussions at the event centred on innovation, entrepreneurship, challenges and opportunities in South Africa's water and sanitation sector. Discussions also covered South Africa's water challenges in a global context, as well as education and career opportunities.
