State-of-the-art e-commerce logistics centre opens at Ethiopia's airport

This is the third such centre in the country

An Ethiopian airline has opened a state-of-the-art e-commerce logistics centre at a cost of US$55 million. This is reported by ENA.

The company said it continues to adopt modern methods to maintain international competitiveness.

It added that due to trends in the decline of conventional freight transport and the spread of digital marketing worldwide, e-commerce in freight transport is becoming more in demand. The airline has already built its third e-commerce logistics centre at Bole International Airport. It will allow goods to be transported to different countries around the world via Addis Ababa.

Such a centre will not only provide the usual services but also play a key role in facilitating the new global market strategy. The company stressed that they derive 30-35 per cent of their total revenue from cargo.
