International Youth Day is celebrated on 12 August

On the occasion of International Youth Day, Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Arab Youth Centre, highlighted the crucial role of youth in the development and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He stressed that the country's leaders are devoting significant resources to channel the energy of the youth towards nation building, as reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

Sheikh Theyab stressed that the youth represent the hope and future of the nation, and emphasised the importance of equipping them with education and knowledge so that they can fulfil their aspirations and contribute to the progress of society.

He pointed out that the strength of a society is measured by the loyalty and commitment of its youth to its values and humanitarian principles.

"We are convinced that the only way to make the information space more stable, secure and predictable is through international cooperation. No country is capable of countering cross-border ICT threats on its own. There is a need to develop common rules of the game applicable to all, which would regulate the actions of states and their companies in the digital sphere. [...] The first step in this direction has already been taken with the adoption by the UN General Assembly in December 2024 and the signing in October 2025 of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, developed at Russia’s initiative.
