TV BRICS to unite young researchers from Russia and India to work on scientific projects in sustainable development

Young researchers from leading universities in Russia and India will discuss practical projects in sustainable development during the online conference BRICS Youth ESG Dialogue. The international dialogue between Moscow and Gurugram (Haryana) will take place on 9 April 2026. It is organised jointly with TV BRICS by a partner of the media network – the Centre for BRICS Studies at Amity University, one of the largest private universities in the republic.

The online conference is timed to coincide with India’s BRICS chairmanship in 2026 and also addresses the outcomes of the 25th anniversary of the UN Global Compact and the 10th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, which defines 17 global Sustainable Development Goals.

“The BRICS Youth ESG Dialogue online conference is intended to become a platform for active dialogue among young researchers from different countries. This is one example of how TV BRICS creates communication formats and supports global information priorities, thereby contributing to the shared BRICS agenda and strengthening international humanitarian cooperation. Similar goals are pursued, for instance, by the country studies teleconferences regularly held within the media network’s ‘Modern Russian’ project. At the same time, within the TV BRICS information space, Russia and India are often closely interconnected, which underscores the status of a specially privileged strategic partnership between the countries,” said Aleksandra Burman, Director of the International Cooperation Department at TV BRICS.

“As the theme of India’s BRICS presidency is resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability, this event puts young people at the centre of all four directly, not as an audience but as active participants in this conversation on the issue of carbon markets, sustainable finance, AI in ESG, clean energy, and the regulatory frameworks that will shape the future of the Global South. What makes this event even more significant is its scope and geographic outreach. This is not a single-country conversation but a platform for the researchers, experts and audiences from BRICS Plus countries to come together around the shared agenda of sustainability and ESG,” said Kumari Mansi, Assistant Professor and Coordinator for the Amity Centre for BRICS Studies, Amity University Haryana.

Students from Russian universities – partners of TV BRICS – have also been invited to participate in the BRICS Youth ESG Dialogue online conference. The programme is expected to include discussions on the development of carbon markets, energy efficiency technologies, investment issues and regulatory frameworks related to the climate agenda, as well as scientific and practical projects of young researchers. The discussion will be held in English. The moderators will be representatives of the International Cooperation Department at TV BRICS, Evgeny Mishin and Madina Agliullina. Professor Vikas Madhukar, Vice-Chancellor of Amity University in Gurugram, will deliver a welcoming address to the participants.

"Considering education as a primary vehicle for SDG achievement, leading BRICS institutions are prioritising the comprehensive integration of the 2030 Agenda into their core activities. Notably, Brazilian universities adhere to a tripartite model that seamlessly unifies education, research, and community outreach. Their efforts are primarily focused on health and well-being (SDG 3), as well as a critical environmental cluster: clean water and sanitation (SDG 6), affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13). Brazil’s National Education Plan provides the legal basis for an inclusive educational framework: the incorporation of social practices into undergraduate curricula ensures a high degree of student engagement in addressing global challenges,” said Gabriela de Fatima Cia, coordinator of the Youth Secretariat of the Centre for Integration and Cooperation of Russia and Latin America (CICRAL).

Today, more than 30 state and public institutions from Russia, Brazil, India, China, Cuba, South Africa and Iran are partners of the TV BRICS International Media Network in the field of science and higher education, including members of the BRICS Network University; the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL); the Group for International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB); the Secretariat of Education of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil); as well as the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education of Cuba.
