Brazilian universities will share their scientific achievements with a wide audience and strengthen international cooperation with foreign partners through the TV BRICS International Media Network.

The agreement was signed by the CEO of TV BRICS, Janna Tolstikova, and the Executive Director of the Group for International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), Rossana Valeria de Souza e Silva. The partnership aims to promote higher education and scientific achievements on the global stage, expand cooperation among universities of BRICS+ countries, and develop professional and expert communities.

“The partnership between the Group for International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) and TV BRICS aims to strengthen academic cooperation between higher education institutions of the BRICS member states. To this end, we intend to carry out joint projects in the fields of higher education, science, technology, and innovation, promoting interaction between academic communities, research centres and scientific organisations in Brazil and other BRICS member states. Combining specialised knowledge in the interface between global relations, higher education and science, on the part of GCUB, with the expertise of TV BRICS in the fields of communication and media, seems to us a sound decision, as we expand dissemination and access to information in these spheres. Our intention is to continue along the path towards building a stronger and more inclusive academic internationalisation. For this, the partnership with TV BRICS is fundamental,” says Rossana Valeria de Souza e Silva.

The Group for International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) is a non-profit civil society association focused on academic, scientific and cultural areas. Founded in 2008, GCUB comprises 103 Brazilian universities and 8 foreign institutions. The group’s programmes and projects offer students, postgraduates, researchers, and professors the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and share values and perspectives with people from different cultures. In addition, GCUB organises seminars in Brazil and partner countries, bringing together researchers from relevant scientific fields, as well as training courses for leaders in international university cooperation. GCUB’s activities are carried out in partnership with international and governmental organisations, university networks and councils of rectors from more than 100 countries across all continents.

The Director of the International Cooperation Department at TV BRICS, Aleksandra Burman, stated that the media network currently has more than 30 partners in higher education institutions in Russia, Brazil, India, China, South Africa, and Iran, including members of the BRICS Network University, as well as the Ministry of Education of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba, and the Ministry of Education of Cuba.

“With the Group for International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), we share common objectives, which include promoting the development of connections between educational structures and scientific communities of different countries and expanding the geographical reach of exporting the best educational practices and achievements. The collaboration between TV BRICS and GCUB, which brings together more than 100 educational institutions in Brazil and other countries, will undoubtedly open new perspectives and opportunities for the implementation of major international projects and initiatives,” shares Aleksandra Burman.

TV BRICS acts as the international media partner at several important events organised by universities, including the Kostomarov Forum of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute (Russia), the postgraduate forum of Durban University of Technology (South Africa), the BRICS Documentary Film Festival of the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA – Brazil), and, in partnership with Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), organises videoconferences within the framework of its informational and educational project “Modern Russian”.
