Universities of Brazil and South Africa outline prospects for joint research programmes

A delegation from the Unisa University of South Africa has visited the University of Sao Paulo (USP) in Brazil. USP plays a significant role in the Brazilian scientific field, contributing more than 20 per cent of the country's research output. This is reported by Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Unisa delegation included researchers working in various fields including catalysis, fuel cells and renewable energy. The meetings also discussed joint projects and the idea of establishing joint master's and doctoral programmes.

"One of our key interests as a university and college is formulating joint master's and doctoral degree programmes. It creates a lot of depth with regards to the collaboration in being able to produce world-class students collaboratively," said Professor Bhekie Mamba, Executive Dean of South African College of Science, Engineering and Technology.

The delegation visited various USP laboratories to discuss state-of-the-art research facilities and opportunities for collaborative research.
