Brazilian municipality celebrates World Environment Week

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June

The Municipality of Marica will be holding a series of activities from 4 to 9 June to celebrate World Environment Day, which takes place on 5 June. The initiative of the Secretariat of the Sustainable City includes programme exhibitions, workshops, lectures .

The programme also includes walking and planting saplings with students from the Marica Mais Esporte project.

The week of activities will conclude on Sunday, 9 June, with an exhibition of the fauna and flora of Marica. The activities will take place in partnership with the Tourism Secretariat. This is reported by Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

In 1972, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution, designating 5 June as World Environment Day. The first World Environment Day was celebrated in 1973 with the theme “Only One Earth”.
