New initiative highlights cultural exchange, travel growth potential and stronger bilateral ties through 2026–2027 cooperation framework
A major tourism promotion programme showcasing the cultural and travel potential of China has been held in Hanoi, signalling renewed momentum in tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China.
The event formed part of a broader effort to deepen bilateral engagement during the Vietnam–China Tourism Cooperation Year 2026–2027. Officials emphasised that cultural and travel exchanges remain a cornerstone of relations, strengthening people-to-people connectivity and mutual understanding.
Addressing participants, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy Xing Jiuqiang highlighted the enduring partnership between the two nations, noting that initiatives of this kind provide new opportunities for Vietnamese visitors to explore China’s regional diversity.
Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, underlined the strong growth trajectory in bilateral travel flows. She noted that China has consistently ranked as Vietnam’s largest source of inbound tourists across multiple periods, while Vietnam continues to be among China’s leading outbound markets, with annual visitor numbers reaching several million.
With populations exceeding 100 million in Vietnam and 1.4 billion in China, officials see significant untapped potential for further expansion. According to VNA, a partner of TV BRICS, enhanced cooperation is expected to play a key role in implementing recently agreed tourism initiatives for 2026–2027.
According to the source, Vietnam remains a strategically important market for China’s tourism sector. Expanding cooperation and targeted promotion could help unlock greater growth in bilateral tourism flows.
