China launches electrified “braided truck” to advance green logistics

Its intelligent driving system integrates environmental perception, planning and control

China has unveiled a new electrified smart “braided heavy truck” designed to accelerate the green transformation of the nation’s logistics sector. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The truck draws power via pantographs connected to overhead catenary “braids,” overcoming the range limitations of conventional electric heavy-duty vehicles and enabling extended, continuous operations for heavy-haul transport. Its intelligent driving system integrates environmental perception, planning and control, while safety modules monitor pantograph-catenary interactions and provide real-time risk warnings.

Targeted at heavy-duty cargo operations on roads and in mining areas with abundant wind and photovoltaic energy, the vehicle leverages clean energy to support China’s transition to sustainable logistics. Nearly 10,000 km of trial operations have been completed, including tests on bumpy, undulating terrain, to refine the performance of the pantograph-catenary system.

According to the source, ongoing optimisation is expected to pave the way for more intelligent, eco-friendly vehicles in China’s heavy transport sector.
