The new line is important for improving public transport and promoting the quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta
In eastern China, in the economically active Yangtze River Delta region, testing of a new high-speed railway line connecting two major cities, Hangzhou and Wenzhou, has begun.
The railway is 260 kilometres long and has a design speed of up to 350 kilometres per hour. There are nine stations along the route, providing fast connections between the economic centres of Hangzhou, Yiwu and Wenzhou, highlighting the dynamic development of the region.
Experts emphasise that this project serves as a pilot example of mixed ownership reform aimed at attracting private investment in railway construction. This is reported by CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.
The new intercity line is integrated into the delta's existing high-speed railway network. It also opens up access to the region's rich tourism resources.
