China launches Yaogan 43A group of remote sensing earth observation satellites

The country is developing Earth observation technology

On Friday, August 16, 2024, China launched a Long March 4B carrier rocket from Xichang Space Centre in Sichuan Province, China, which put into orbit a group of Yaogan 43A earth remote sensing satellites. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

The satellites, developed by the China Academy of Space Technology and the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, are part of China's Earth observation system programme. They are designed to collect data on the physical characteristics of objects on land and at sea using measurements of the radiation they reflect and emit.

The resulting Yaogan data is widely used by government agencies, public services, and enterprises in various fields such as environmental monitoring, resource management, urban planning, and emergency response.

The Long March 4B carrier rocket is capable of launching several satellites weighing a total of 2.5 tonnes into orbit at an altitude of 700 kilometres.
