Cuba concludes Caribbean Festival and prepares next edition with Colombia

After seven days of cultural exchanges, artistic performances, and discussions on identity and integration, the 44th edition of the Caribbean Festival came to a close in Santiago de Cuba.

During the ceremony, researcher Orlando Verges, Director of the Casa del Caribe and a central figure of the Festival, received the "Jose Martí Mausoleum" Distinction in recognition of his work in preserving cultural identity and his dedication to the event throughout the years.

The closing was marked by a vibrant parade. TV BRICS served as the media partner for the occasion.

Through social media, the Governor of Santiago de Cuba, Manuel Falcon, along with the Provincial Director of Culture, Raulicer Garcia Hierrezuelo, and the Director of the Casa del Caribe, Orlando Verges Martinez, held a meeting with Colombia’s official delegation during the festival.

It was announced that the next edition, in 2026, will be dedicated to the indigenous cultures and African diaspora of Colombia, promising an edition as meaningful and vibrant as the one just concluded.

Colombian Senator Gloria Florez stated that several initiatives are already in place to build cultural bridges and ensure a large delegation for the 2026 edition of the festival, known as the “Fiesta del Fuego.”
