The International Medical Tourism Conference kicked off with the support of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly under the slogan "The echo of the past is renewed today". The two-day event was held in the New Administrative Capital. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
Ahmed Al-Sobky, Chairperson of the Health Care Authority, highlighted the significant progress made in Egypt's health sector. He emphasised the crucial role of the public sector in the development of medical tourism, noting the developed infrastructure and policies that guarantee the quality and safety of medical services. In addition, he mentioned the promotion of investment in healthcare in various fields.
Al-Sobki emphasised that Egypt is prominent in the field of medical tourism, both hospital and treatment tourism, internationally.
He noted that the country is an important centre for visitors from different parts of the world, especially from Arab and African countries.
Al-Sobky said that more than 6,000 foreign patients from 23 countries have been treated in hospitals accredited under the "We Care for You in Egypt" programme. Medical tourism revenues increased significantly compared to 2023.
He said that medical tourism is a vital strategic sector for Egypt's economic growth, emphasising the importance of cooperating with the private sector and civil society to make Egypt a world leader in medical tourism.
This is in line with the vision of comprehensive participation of all sectors in building, developing and realising the 2030 goals.
