India to land human on Moon by 2040
India's Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh has said that the South Asian country plans to send a human into space by 2025 and land an astronaut on the Moon by 2040, according to IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.
Likewise, the senior Indian official assured that India is also preparing to carry out "robot flights, where a female robot, Vayumitra, will be sent to space in 2025". The robot will perform all the actions of an astronaut, return to Earth and recover from the probe.
Singh said that the policy opened the door for private sector participation in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and helped the sector reach new heights.
“The 2023 new space policy was a watershed moment. For the first time, the private sector was allowed to participate in ISRO’s activities,” the minister added.
