Malaysia retrains over 100,000 teachers to advance digital education
The Ministry of Education (MOE) of Malaysia is retraining more than 100,000 teachers nationwide in digital pedagogy and modern teaching tools as part of its commitment to the ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2021–2025. This is reported by Bernama.
Сountry's Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced the initiative during the Empowering Education Summit 2025, stating that the professional development programme is being implemented in collaboration with UNESCO and several Malaysian universities.
In parallel, the ministry is expanding collaboration between the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector and industry players. The National TVET Empowerment Agenda enables public-private partnerships to develop modular training aligned with industry demands.
For instance, in Johor and Penang, the electrical and electronics sector is partnering with polytechnics to create specialised training in semiconductors.
Addressing digital equity, the ministry is deploying hybrid solar-powered classrooms and satellite internet to 180 remote schools in Sabah and Sarawak.
