Iran and South Africa have agreed to expand cooperation between universities and scientific organisations. This was reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
A meeting between Iran’s Deputy Minister for Science, Research and Technology, Masoud Shams Bakhsh, and South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, took place in Bhubaneswar, India, during the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting.
Dube-Ncube outlined the opportunities offered by South African universities and research centres and proposed expanding cooperation with Iran. Potential areas of collaboration include joint research, exchanges of lecturers, postgraduate students and undergraduates, as well as short-term training courses.
Shams Bakhsh highlighted South Africa’s role in establishing institutional mechanisms for educational cooperation within the BRICS framework. He stated that Iran is keen to draw on this experience.
Representatives from both countries also discussed Iran’s participation in the BRICS Working Group on Education, the mutual recognition of academic qualifications, and the drafting of a joint document on cooperation in strategic areas.
