Robotic surgery opens new horizons for cancer treatment
Saudi Arabia's King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre has performed a revolutionary robot-assisted surgery to remove a pancreatic tumour. This is reported by Arab News.
This marked the first time a fully robotic operation of this kind had been carried out.
The robot allowed surgeons to perform the procedure through small incisions, reducing the patient's recovery time compared to traditional surgery, which requires a large incision, increases the risk of infection, and increases rehabilitation time.
The complex procedure required surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists, radiologists, and intensive care teams to work cohesively.
According to the source, this achievement opens new horizons for the development of robotic surgery, providing better treatment, improving patient experience, and increasing operating theatre efficiency.
