Egypt and India launch joint training initiative to boost essential oils sector

This offers a significant opportunity for increasing farmers’ incomes

Egypt has announced a strategic partnership with India to launch a specialised training programme aimed at advancing the production of aromatic and medicinal oils, a high-demand sector both locally and internationally. This is reported by MENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The training programme will focus on modernising production methods, minimising contamination, and enhancing efficiency through mechanisation. The goal is to deliver high-quality essential oils suitable for use in a wide range of industries, including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, and soaps.

The official data shows that Egypt supplies approximately 60 per cent of the world’s jasmine oil exports, with its core production concentrated in the Gharbia Governorate. The new programme will not only improve extraction techniques but also educate producers on international demand and open new export markets, the source claimed.

The training initiative is expected to create a qualitative leap in the Egyptian essential oils industry by transferring advanced expertise and aligning production with global standards. This offers a significant opportunity for increasing farmers’ incomes and boosting Egypt’s foreign currency earnings.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, the programme will also rely on data-driven practices to optimise output and ensure the sustainable growth of this promising sector.
