Egypt’s health initiative provides historic 212.88 million medical services

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, announced a landmark achievement for the "100 Million Health" initiative, which has delivered 212.88 million medical services over six years since its launch in October 2018. 

Benefiting 94 million citizens across all age groups, this initiative highlights Egypt’s commitment to advancing public health and achieving sustainable development goals, as reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The initiative, which began with detecting non-communicable diseases, has expanded to encompass 14 comprehensive programmes targeting both Egyptian and non-Egyptian residents. According to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, these initiatives aim to promote healthier lifestyles, encourage early disease detection, and ensure effective management to prevent complications. 

Egypt's programme has received significant global recognition and has been awarded by the World Health Organization and the United Nations.

A testament to its public health leadership, Egypt also set five Guinness World Records for cancer awareness and detection, including diagnosing 6,000 cases in just eight hours.

As Egypt aligns its healthcare strategies with its Vision 2030 agenda, the “100 Million Health” initiative stands out as a transformative model for addressing critical public health challenges, reducing disease burdens, and fostering sustainable development.
