The sector’s progress is supported by the increasing adoption of advanced technologies
Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has confirmed that the country’s medical device exports reached a total of US$273 million in 2024, reflecting growing international demand for domestically produced healthcare technologies, as reported by ANTARA.
According to Solehan, Director of the Agricultural Machinery and Machinery Industry at the Ministry, the sector’s progress is supported by the increasing adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), which is enhancing diagnostic precision and operational efficiency in medical devices.
These technological developments are positioning Indonesian manufacturers as viable players on the international stage, the expert claimed.
The Ministry is also actively promoting the national medical device industry by facilitating cross-sector collaboration. These efforts include raw material development studies, partnerships with research institutions and universities, and coordination with the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Trade to increase market access and visibility of local innovations.
