Iran’s exports to Eurasian countries grow by 16%

Trade expansion highlights rising economic engagement with Eurasian Economic Union members

Iran’s exports to Eurasian countries increased by 16 per cent during the first eight months of the current Iranian year, which began on 20 March 2025, according to official data.

The head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organisation, Mohammad-Ali Dehghan Dehnavi, announced the figures during a meeting dedicated to trade cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The meeting brought together senior representatives of relevant government agencies, as reported by Nour News, a partner of TV BRICS.

Dehghan Dehnavi noted that Iran has recorded significant export growth this year, underlining the active role played by the private sector and business community in capitalising on trade opportunities with the five member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.

He emphasised that Iran is currently working on the development of a new agreement framework with Eurasian partners, building on previous free trade arrangements. According to him, the country possesses substantial untapped trade potential across the region, with Iran’s trade capacity with Russia alone estimated at up to US$12 billion.

Identifying priorities for further cooperation, Dehghan Dehnavi highlighted the importance of creating platforms for direct dialogue between Iranian entrepreneurs and Eurasian counterparts.

Iran has already hosted three editions of the Iran–Eurasia trade exhibition. The fourth edition is scheduled to take place from 1 to 4 February and is expected to serve as a showcase for Iran’s export capabilities and production potential.

In parallel with the exhibition, an Iran–Eurasia economic cooperation meeting will also be held, aiming to deepen interaction, enhance coordination and strengthen economic ties between Iran and Eurasian countries.
