Patricia Villegas Marin, President of Latin American TV channel teleSUR: cooperation with TV BRICS is one of most significant for us

She noted that this partnership has built a strong channel of communication between the countries of the Global South

In the 20 years of teleSUR's existence, one of the most significant partnerships has been the cooperation with TV BRICS. Patricia Villegas Marin, President of the Latin American TV channel, said in a conversation with the international media network.

"I express my immense gratitude to my colleagues of TV BRICS and to their viewers and readers around the world. One of the most important cooperation agreements we have entered into over these 20 years has been our partnership with the media network. It allows us to receive exceptional quality content on topics that are rarely covered in other media," said Villegas.

The president of teleSUR emphasised that through this collaboration, a strong link has been built between the countries of the Global South. By joining forces, both media entities are creating content that reflects the real lives and voices of the people of these nations, she added.

"We have tremendous opportunities and potential to grow together, to realise joint projects," she said.

The teleSUR TV channel is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Over the years, it has established itself as a media platform that tells about the life of Latin American and Caribbean countries on behalf of the region's residents.

The cooperation between TV BRICS and teleSUR started in 2023. Since then, joint content exchange projects have been implemented. teleSUR programmes about life in Latin American countries are regularly broadcast on the air and on the TV BRICS website.

In addition, TV BRICS broadcast two teleSUR-produced programmes - "Manage Your Body" and "ATOMUN". They were also broadcast on regional partner TV channels in Russia and the CIS, including UNIVER TV (Kazan Federal University channel), NTS (Kyrgyzstan) and Yugra (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug). In turn, teleSUR showed both seasons of the programmes "City of Stories" and "The Language of Dance", as well as the documentaries "More precious than gold" and "Partitura. Young Music of Russia".

In 2024, the teleSUR special project Destino Verde was honoured with the main award in the category "Headliner among Sustainable Media" of the II National Award "Headliners of ESG-Principles" created in partnership with TV BRICS.

Today, TV BRICS partners include more than 100 leading media outlets from 26 countries, and the international media network's information presence reaches more than 80 countries. The total technical coverage of the partners' network exceeds 1.5 billion users. The mission of TV BRICS is to strengthen cooperation between the BRICS countries and to disseminate objective information about the humanitarian and economic activities of the BRICS member states and partners.
