Russian GITIS plans to develop theatre cooperation with Egypt

The "School of Russian Theatre", a joint project of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) and Rossotrudnichestvo, held for the first time in Africa, has ended in Cairo. For four days leading teachers of the university taught Egyptian students acting, directing and theatre make-up, as reported by the website of GITIS, a partner of TV BRICS.

It is noted that at the meeting of the GITIS Vice-Rector for Education Daria Drugachenko with the Head of the Academy of Arts of Egypt Ghada Gobara discussed further cooperation. The parties agreed on joint educational programmes and exchange of experience.

"This project is an important step in the development of Egyptian theatre and popularisation of Russian culture," said Drugachenko.

Gobara stressed the influence of the Russian theatre school. "Our teachers deeply study the legacy of Stanislavsky and other masters," she said.

Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Asiyat Turuchieva confirmed the readiness to support such initiatives. The school participants received diplomas and an opportunity to put their new knowledge into practice.
