TV BRICS to present eight films at the VI Innovative International Film Festival
TV BRICS will present eight films by directors from the BRICS countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa - at the VI Innovative International Film Festival (IIFF), which will take place on 12-15 October 2023 in Bangalore, India.
In this way, the audience will see the Russian documentary film 2023 "Magadan Silver" produced by TV BRICS (directed by Andrey Porshnyak).
The film tells about the largest silver deposit in Russia, which is located in the Magadan region. It is also the third largest in the world. The film crew got acquainted with those who work in this region on a rotational basis. In a special TV BRICS project, they talk about themselves, their work and the romance of the Far North.
"Steps of Civilisation" (directed by Sergey Kholodny, Russia)
It is important that humanity's payment for entry into space civilisation is not excessive. When a rocket goes into orbit, a team of Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities (TsENKI) specialists rushes by helicopters and all-terrain vehicles to the "drop fields" - areas where the spent stages of the launch rocket fall - in order to find and dispose of them. Since the beginning of the space age, the cosmodrome ecologists have been doing their hard work at Baikonur. Now TsENKI specialists will do it in Yakutia, where rocket stages launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome will be lowered.
"Malaika" (directed by Abongile Ntsata, South Africa)
A village girl with a potentially bright future is brought to the suburbs by her aunt after the death of her mother. The protagonist's life is turned upside down after meeting her uncle. The film won several awards at festivals in South Africa: Sarvin International Film Festival and the SWIFF Film Festival.
"River's tale" (directed by Paul Zisiwe, South Africa)
River's tale is a short film about the Basuto people living in the mountains of the Kingdom of Lesotho. The film depicts a crossing of the Orange River - a family whose members are carrying a coffin with their deceased infant. The river is in motion as a symbol of the mundane and the afterlife. The South African director's atmospheric film is accompanied by original music written by composers Mpho Molikeng and Jonathan Crossley.
"Rasta the Artist" (directed by Odwa Kolwein, South Africa)
Rasta has been called a rock star and revolutionary from the South African painting world. And not accidentally, because the artist's works quite often provoke the South African society, and the reactions are very different. The documentary film "Rasta the Artist" is primarily about the fact that creativity should not be restricted and any criticism should not go beyond discussion, and only secondarily about the painter himself.
"Dusk till dawn" (directed by Tiago Delacio, Brazil)
In the forest zone of Pernambuco, dream and reality intertwine. Among the sugar cane fields, colour, dance, theatre and music reveal a not-so-distant past, question the present and shed light on the future challenges of a game that begins at night and ends at dawn.
"Qinghai our National park" (directed by Li Xiao, China)
The first episode of the "Qinghai our National park" documentary, "Sea of Grass" focuses on the source of the Yellow River, Qilian National Park and the Bird Island of Qinghai Lake, highlighting the ecological restoration of the place.
"All the way North" (directed by Kang Chengye, China)
The film shows the life of wild elephants living in Yunnan, China. The film was shot using drones, infrared thermal imaging cameras and other modern technologies. Thanks to them, it was possible to track the animals' movements and capture the elephants' daily life, to better understand the migration process and analyse its causes, to see behavioural traces and other issues.
TV BRICS International Media Network has been co-operating with the Innovative International Film Festival for five years. The IV Innovative International Film Festival in Bangalore in 2021 saw the premiere of the documentary film "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" by the TV BRICS joint editorial team.
Filmmakers from 35 countries are participating in this year's festival. The event will feature sessions on legends of Indian cinema, use of visual effects in cinema, new technologies in the industry and popularising collaborations.
