The state is home to one of the three largest solar power plants in the world
Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, reaffirmed the country's commitment to a sustainable energy future and its leading role in developing renewable energy. The remarks came on the sidelines of International Clean Energy Day, which is celebrated on 26 January.
The Minister stressed the importance of the day to recognise the significance of clean energy in achieving climate goals through a just and sustainable energy transition, ensuring both energy security and a clean future for all. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS
She also noted that the UAE is proud to be home to some of the world's largest solar power plants, as well as the recently commissioned gigawatt-sized 24-hour solar and battery project. These initiatives, including the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which covers nearly 25 per cent of the country's electricity needs, are indicative of the UAE's commitment to achieving its strategy of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050.
Speaking on the further development of clean energy, the Minister emphasised the need for global cooperation and the UAE's active participation in international partnerships to share knowledge and support developing countries in finding sustainable energy solutions.
