Venezuelan cocoa exports to more than double in 2025

Authorities attribute growth to government programme and an increase in cultivation area

Venezuela’s cocoa exports increased by 111 per cent in 2025 compared with the previous year, according to the country's Minister of Productive Agriculture and Land, Julio Leon Eredia. This is reported by BRICSLat, a partner of TV BRICS.

The minister noted the growth was the result of a state programme for Production, Supply, and Export (PAE). Producers and farmers increased the area under cultivation.

Since the beginning of 2026, Venezuela has already completed 14 export shipments. Efforts are also underway to restore three cocoa processing plants in the states of Sucre and Miranda in order to boost processing capacity and improve product quality.

Part of the cocoa exports is supplied to Russia. Since last year, eight contracts have been concluded with a Russian partner, resulting in shipments totalling 1,000 tonnes. The source states that plans are in place to triple export volumes to this market.

In addition, Kazakhstan imported 248 tonnes of Venezuelan cocoa beans in 2025, valued at US$1.7 million. These figures are presented in the reporting documentation of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan.

According to statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), cocoa bean production in Venezuela has remained stable in recent years at around 29,000 tonnes annually.
