Beijing zoo welcomes 21 new rare animals
Endangered species debut in immersive new habitats
The Beijing Zoo has introduced an exciting lineup of new residents. A diverse collection of 21 rare animals spanning eight species, including a green peafowl, king cobra, vibrant mandrill, and distinctive olive baboon, has made its debut. Alongside these arrivals, the zoo has enhanced the wetland area near the Golden Monkey Hall, offering guests a more immersive wildlife experience.
The zoo’s deputy director, specialised care has been implemented to ease the transition for the new arrivals. Dietary adjustments and habitat enrichments ensure their comfort and well-being. Among the notable newcomers is a three-metre-long king cobra, now housed in a carefully designed exhibit.
The cobra’s enclosure mimics a natural ecosystem, with layered substrates supporting plant growth to maintain optimal humidity and oxygen levels, as reported by China.com, a partner of TV BRICS.
