Belarus and Russia launch joint venture to develop hydrogen and autonomous mining equipment

A joint venture between Belarus and Russia for the development of hydrogen-powered and autonomous mining equipment has been launched in Moscow. The primary objective is to integrate comprehensive solutions into Russia’s mining industry, including hydrogen-powered dump trucks and unmanned vehicles.

The technologies are expected to reduce operating costs, lower the carbon footprint, and improve safety at mining sites, reports BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS. The enterprise will provide full-cycle support for innovative solutions, including the deployment of equipment in the Russian market, infrastructure development, adaptation and maintenance of IT systems, as well as service support covering training, technical assistance, and software upgrades.

The Belarusian side will focus on the production of dump trucks and the development of specialised software. The Russian side will ensure the integration of these solutions into mining enterprises. Joint efforts are aimed at creating a unified platform for the development and implementation of artificial intelligence, telemetry, and hydrogen energy technologies.

“This is not just a new stage of cooperation but a fundamental step towards technological sovereignty for our countries. Today, we are combining the strength of Belarusian mechanical engineering and digital competencies with the investment potential of Russian partners. Our shared task is to offer the market not just machinery but an intelligent ecosystem,” said Sergey Lesin, Chief Executive Officer of a leading Belarusian manufacturer of mining equipment.

The share of Belarusian-developed code in the project stands at 100 per cent, and the solution is already in demand in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The new enterprise has export potential, offering a comprehensive product ranging from software to infrastructure and services.
