Chile's GDP grows by more than 2 per cent

The positive dynamics was ensured by the growth of exports and industry

According to the report of the Central Bank of Chile, in the third quarter of 2024, the GDP of the Latin American country grew by 2.3 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year. This is reported by Cronica Digital, a partner of TV BRICS.

It is noted that between July and September, economic growth was fuelled by positive momentum in services, mining, manufacturing and trade.

The GDP growth relies mainly on exports rather than domestic demand, which, however, was supported by an increase in government spending and consumer activity. Exports of goods and services grew by 6.4 per cent, driven mainly by copper and non-metallic minerals such as lithium carbonate.

As for other industries, the authors of the Central Bank report drew attention to the increased production of electricity through renewable energy sources. The construction industry also recorded a half per cent increase thanks to large projects such as mines or infrastructure projects. In turn, crop production, livestock and fisheries showed positive dynamics.
