The exhibition presents sabres, rapiers and swords used in the performances of Russia's major theatres
From 9 to 30 April, the Stanislavsky House Museum is hosting an exhibition timed to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the "Silver Sword" International Festival of Stage Fencing. It is held by the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS, a partner of TV BRICS, together with the Moscow Art Theatre Museum.
The exposition presents stage props used in the performances of the leading Russian theatres. Among the exhibits are more than 15 items from Stanislavsky's collection, including sabres, foils and swords, as well as 7 items from the Bolshoi Theatre Museum and 14 blades from the E. Vakhtangov State Academical Theatre.
Students of the Faculty of Scenography of GITIS took part in the preparation of the exhibition.
"Silver Sword" is the only professional festival of stage fencing in the world. Every year on its platform actors and students of theatre universities demonstrate virtuoso mastery of the blade.
"It is important for us to emphasise the importance of stage fencing – this difficult but fascinating art of stage combat, so organically integrated into the theatre. A person who is able to fence and verbal dialogue leads differently – more meaningful, more interesting"

The festival will take place on 18 and 19 April 2025 at the GITIS Training Theatre. TV BRICS is the international media partner of both events.
