Largest media holding in Ugra joins cooperation with media of BRICS countries through TV BRICS International Media Network

The aim of the partnership is to increase the recognisability of the Russian region in the BRICS+ countries

The information content prepared by "Ugra" Media Holding will be available via TV BRICS to the audiences of the BRICS+ countries. On the margins of the XV International IT Forum held in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra (Russia), a co-operation agreement was signed by Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS media network, and Tatyana Goreva, Deputy Director of District broadcaster "Ugra".

The partners' cooperation is aimed at increasing the recognition of Ugra in the BRICS+ countries and informing the population of the Russian region about the activities of the member states and partners of the association.

"The cooperation of 'Ugra' TV and Radio Company with TV BRICS International Media Network is an opportunity to introduce the achievements of one of the advanced Russian regions – Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, its tourism and investment potential – to the huge audience of BRICS countries. In the Year of Russia's BRICS Chairmanship, Ugra is the venue for a number of major events that attract the attention of the international community. The first results of joint work with TV BRICS can already be seen at the IT forum, which was attended by foreign partners of the media network – heads of leading media from BRICS+ countries," said Tatyana Goreva, Deputy Director of District broadcaster 'Ugra'".

"Ugra" is the largest media holding of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Ural Federal District, with a potential audience of 1.5 million people. Currently it unites 11 media outlets of all directions (television, radio broadcasting, online media, print media). The 24-hour "Ugra" TV channel broadcasts in the regions of Russia and neighbouring countries. Priority areas are information-analytical, social and educational projects and programs. The National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters of Russia three times recognised "Ugra" as the best television company of the year. Currently, the media holding team employs more than 400 people.

Janna Tolstikova, CEO of the international media network, noted that TV BRICS pays special attention to the development of co-operation between municipalities and regions of the BRICS+ countries. For this purpose, an exchange of news, programmes and projects between media outlets has been organised on an ongoing basis. For instance, in Russia, apart from "Ugra", leading TV channels in Omsk, Krasnoyarsk and the Republic of Mordovia co-operate with TV BRICS.

In total, more than 70 media outlets from many countries of the world act as partners of the media network. Vietnam's largest state-owned media outlet joined the TV BRICS group on the margins of the IT forum.

In February 2024, TV BRICS and the government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug signed a co-operation agreement. In continuation of its work with the region, the media network acted as an international information partner of the IT Forum with the participation of the BRICS and SCO countries and organised the BRICS Global Media Tour. On 19 June, media executives representing Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cuba and Vietnam took part in a special session of the forum "New Technologies in the Media Industry: Technological Development of the Industry and New Media Content".
