Moscow to discuss future of strategic partnership between Russia and India

The conference will be attended by state and public figures, representatives of business circles, scientific and expert community of the two countries

A press conference on Russian-Indian cooperation in economics, science, technology, humanitarian ties, food security, and agriculture will be held in Moscow on 27 March. TV BRICS will be the international media partner of the event.

Among the participants of the conference are the Foreign Ministers of Russia and India, Sergey Lavrov and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, as well as the ambassadors of the two countries – Vinay Kumar (India) and Denis Alipov (Russia).

Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of TV BRICS International Media Network, will also take part in the conference.

The conference will discuss Russia's and India's foreign policy priorities, as well as the role of BRICS in shaping a new financial and economic architecture. Discussions on the balance of trade in rupees and roubles, energy and investment cooperation are planned.

Special attention will be paid to the strategy of technological sovereignty and interaction in high-tech spheres. Educational exchange and key food market trends will also be raised.

At a press conference timed to coincide with the event, Ivan Timofeev, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council, emphasised that the meeting is "one of the key events for Russian-Indian relations".

India's former ambassador to Russia Pankaj Saran noted that ties between the countries have stood the test of time: "Tomorrow's discussions will be fruitful and will strengthen our relations".

Former Deputy National Security Advisor and Secretary of India Arvind Gupta, in his turn, stressed the importance of intercultural dialogue: "Tomorrow we will study the interaction between Russia and India as two civilisations [...] the basis of our agenda is contacts between people".

The international conference "Russia and India: Towards a New Bilateral Agenda" is organised by the Russian International Affairs Council with the support of the Indian Embassy in Russia. The programme includes three key sessions and additional discussions.
