New deep learning model predicts lithium-ion battery lifetime

A new model promises to improve battery management by providing intelligent solutions for battery monitoring and operation

Researchers from China have developed an innovative deep learning model that can predict the life of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) without the need for extensive charging data.

This model aims to improve the accuracy of the estimation, which is essential for the efficient operation of electrical devices. This is reported by CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

Accurately predicting the lifetime of lithium-ion batteries is challenging due to unstable operating conditions and non-linear degradation process.

Researchers from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Xi'an Jiaotong University presented a solution based on a limited amount of data, only 15 points about the charging cycle.

Based on experimental results, this information allows the current and remaining battery life to be determined with high accuracy.
