Sergey Lavrov and Esteban Lazo Hernandez discussed deepening strategic partnership
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with President of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) Esteban Lazo Hernandez in Moscow. This is reported by the official website of th Russian Foreign Ministry.
As Lavrov noted, in the near future Russia and Cuba are planning important contacts at the highest and high levels.
"A meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Cuban commission on trade, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation will be held soon," Lavrov said.
He also added that Russia is expecting the visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, while Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Chernyshenko will visit Cuba.
For his part, Lazo Hernandez emphasised that his visit is dedicated to the development of bilateral relations between the parliaments of the two countries and preparations for the upcoming intergovernmental commission.
"This is of great importance for us. Our parliamentary work will be an important complement to the upcoming session," he said.
He also noted satisfaction with the state of multilateral and multidisciplinary relations between Russia and Cuba, adding that Cuba is proud of its participation in the BRICS association as a partner country.
