Government targets support for one million enterprises through regulatory improvements and expanded financing
South Africa is intensifying efforts to strengthen its small business sector through targeted reforms and enhanced financial support, Minister of Small Business Development Stella Ndabeni has noted. As reported by Xinhua News Agency, a TV BRICS partner.
The initiative encompasses both financial instruments and capacity-building measures designed to enhance long-term sustainability.
According to the minister, micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) remain central to the country’s economic landscape, contributing significantly to employment and fostering inclusive growth. The sector continues to play a vital role in expanding economic participation and supporting livelihoods across diverse communities.
Policy measures include the implementation of a red-tape reduction framework and the expansion of an electronic registration system aimed at simplifying business registration procedures at the municipal level. The approach is intended to improve efficiency and reduce barriers to entry for entrepreneurs.
Moreover, the government is broadening access to finance. Additional efforts are focused on strengthening market readiness and post-investment support, enabling enterprises to scale operations and improve competitiveness.
