Vladimir Putin and Nicolas Maduro sign strategic partnership and cooperation agreement

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, after his arrival in Moscow, held a meeting with his counterpart of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, with the aim of consolidating cooperation between the two nations. This is reported by the official website of the Russian President.

During the official meeting, held in the framework of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela, both leaders reaffirmed their willingness to expand bilateral cooperation in many key areas.

Putin welcomed Maduro's presence at the Victory Day celebrations: "This is a special day for the Russian people, and we sincerely appreciate your gesture of joining us on this significant date."

He mentioned the growth of trade exchange, which increased by 64 per cent in the last year, and noted that there is still great potential to be tapped. The talks addressed the development of bilateral cooperation in sectors such as energy, transport, health, pharmaceuticals, logistics and culture.

Maduro, for his part, said that this "is the best moment in the 80 years of our relations to make a leap, to take a new impulse for a comprehensive relationship of cooperation in all areas."

He stressed that the new treaty would strengthen bilateral ties between Venezuela and Russia, inspired by the principles of Simon Bolivar and former President Hugo Chavez. He also expressed his admiration for the sacrifice of the Soviet people in the Second World War, considering that this victory represented a triumph for the whole of humanity.

Throughout 80 years of bilateral relations, Russia and Venezuela have established more than 300 agreements covering various fields, including energy, economy, science, technology, and culture.
