Brazil achieves record-breaking grain harvest of 350.2 million tonnes

Brazil's agricultural sector has achieved a monumental milestone with a record-breaking grain harvest of 350.2 million tonnes for the 2024/25 season. This figure represents a substantial 16.3 per cent increase compared to the 324.36 million tonnes harvested in the previous season.

This surge in production is attributed to a combination of factors, including an expansion of the cultivated area by 1.9 million hectares and, crucially, favourable weather conditions. This is reported by TV Cultura, a partner of TV BRICS.

Soybeans led the charge, achieving a record production of approximately 171.5 million tonnes, a significant leap of 20.2 million tonnes over the previous harvest. This success stems from both the increased acreage sown and improved average crop productivity.

Maize and cotton harvests also reached national average records. Maize production is projected to reach a total of 139.7 million tonnes, marking a robust 20.9 per cent increase compared to the previous season. Similarly, cotton production is forecast to hit a record high of 4.1 million tonnes.

The success is expected to have a positive impact on the nation's economy and further solidify its position as a leading agricultural powerhouse.
