Belarus considers BRICS as authoritative international platform

Sergey Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, spoke at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. This is reported by BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.

"We consider BRICS as an authoritative international platform that unites the efforts of the global majority aimed at the formation of true multipolarity, equality, and inclusiveness in international relations, the search for effective ways to solve pressing problems," Sergey Rachkov said.

The official emphasised that for Belarus joining BRICS as a partner was an important and well-thought-out step in its foreign policy.

"As Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko said in his speech at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, BRICS is a community of the future," said Sergey Rachkov.

Earlier, Belarus officially became a BRICS partner country. Belarus's new status in BRICS provides for participation on a permanent basis in special sessions of summits and meetings of foreign ministers. In addition, the partners of the group will be able to join the group's outcome documents, thus expanding their geographical coverage.
