Brazil interests in expanding cooperation with Egypt in field of maritime transport and logistics
A delegation from the Brazilian Embassy in Cairo visited the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria
Brazilian companies are ready to invest in Egypt’s logistics and port infrastructure. The Arab Republic’s membership of BRICS and its geographical location provide Brazil with access to the markets of many Arab and African countries. This was stated by the Brazilian Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative of Brazil to the League of Arab States, Paulino Franco de Carvalho Neto, during a visit to the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, according to MENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The Brazilian ambassador emphasised that Egypt-Brazil relations are currently at a stage of significant development, facilitated by both countries’ accession to BRICS. According to him, membership of the group opens up new opportunities for economic, investment and logistical cooperation and contributes to the growth of trade and mutual investment.
The diplomat highlighted the prospects for growth in bilateral trade and emphasised that Brazilian companies are particularly interested in ports used for transhipment of high value-added cargo, which are becoming logistics hubs.
Abdelkader Darwish, a representative of the state-owned holding company that manages Egypt’s key ports, took part in the meeting with the Brazilian delegation. He noted that the modernisation of Egypt’s ports strengthens the country’s already considerable potential for expanding partnerships with foreign investors in the fields of maritime transport and logistics.
The meeting’s participants discussed mechanisms for cooperation between the Arab and Brazilian business communities, as well as the preparation of a practical framework for potential future projects.
The visit by the Brazilian delegation, led by the ambassador, took place as part of the cooperation between the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. This partnership has been ongoing for more than 15 years, contributing to the development of business ties between the two countries.
