Dubai welcomes 14.96 million international tourists from January to October 2024

Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) held its second city briefing of the year, bringing together more than 1,300 industry leaders

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism event highlighted DET's initiatives to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector, which is critical to the successful implementation of Dubai Economic Programme D33. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of DET opened the briefing by emphasising the importance of public-private partnerships in ensuring the sustainable development of Dubai and the upliftment of its tourism sector.

He affirmed the emirate's endeavour to set new global standards in hospitality through innovation and quality of service.

Participants received an update on Dubai's tourism performance, with the city welcoming 14.96 million international visitors between January and October 2024, an 8 per cent increase on the previous year.

The hotel sector is thriving, with 152,000 available hotel rooms as of the end of October, and the city has seen positive trends in average occupancy and revenue per available room (RevPAR).

Almarri also outlined the latest campaigns and marketing efforts to boost Dubai's appeal as a global tourism destination. Key areas for future tourism growth include weddings, cruises, yachting, accessibility, and gastronomy.
