Egypt advances in artificial intelligence and ranks second in Africa

The government is focusing on creating a favourable legislative framework and promoting innovative projects in various sectors

Egypt has become a prominent player in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), ranking 62nd out of 193 countries in the global AI index. This makes it the seventh Arab country and the second in Africa after Mauritius to adopt AI technologies.

This was announced during the 13th Arab-African Youth Forum on "Artificial Intelligence and its Role in Sustainable Development", which was held in Aswan and Luxor. The event, organised by the Arab Union for Youth and Environment, gathered 250 young participants from universities across Egypt, Arab countries and Africa. This is reported by Middle East News Agency (MENA), a partner of TV BRICS.

There were emphasised that the Egyptian government is keen to promote digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives. The government is focusing on creating a favourable legislative framework and promoting innovative projects in various sectors, particularly in agriculture.

The forum aimed to raise awareness of the importance of these projects for sustainable development. It included lectures on various topics including AI in agriculture, water management and integrated waste management.
