Ethiopia launches first Tourism Satellite Account
Ethiopia's Ministry of Tourism has announced that the first Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) is an accounting system developed by the United Nations designed to measure tourism-related goods and services according to international standards. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
In a briefing to journalists, State Minister of Tourism Sileshi Girma said that in establishing the TSA, Ethiopia collaborated with various ministries and stakeholders. The inauguration of the first Tourism Satellite Account will take place at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa.
The establishment of the TSA is a strategic initiative to maximise the economic potential of Ethiopia's tourism sector.
The TSA will provide information on tourism's contribution to GDP, the comparative size of the sector with other industries, job creation, the impact of international tourism on the balance of payments, and government revenues from tourism activities.
