Organised tourism drives growth in Kyrgyzstan’s travel sector

Rising demand for structured travel services is reshaping the country’s tourism industry

Kyrgyzstan continues to expand its tourism sector, with organised travel emerging as a key contributor to overall growth. This segment is developing at a faster pace than independent travel and is playing an important role in shaping industry dynamics, as reported by Akchabar, a partner of TV BRICS.

Between 2023 and 2025, the number of tourists using organised services increased from 1.8 million to 3.5 million, marking growth of nearly 98 per cent. Over the same period, the unorganised segment rose from 1.05 million to 1.7 million, reflecting an increase of around 64 per cent.

Long-term data shows a similar trend. Since 2010, organised tourism has expanded almost tenfold, while independent travel has grown approximately 7.6 times. Although both segments developed at comparable levels initially, the gap between them had doubled by 2025.

With total tourist arrivals reaching 5.3 million, the growing role of tour operators and formal infrastructure highlights structural changes in the sector. The trend indicates a gradual shift towards organised travel formats, supporting more coordinated and sustainable industry development.
