Putin and Lula da Silva discuss strengthening strategic partnership during phone call

The telephone conversation took place in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, whose special flight made a technical stop in Moscow on its way back from China. This is reported by the official website of the Russian President.

Lula da Silva drew attention to the joint statement adopted in Beijing following talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

He also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome in Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. During the conversation, the leaders reaffirmed their mutual focus on further strengthening the Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin met with Lula da Silva in Moscow on 9 May. It was the Brazilian leader's first visit in last 15 years.
